Wow! That escalated quickly! Yesterday when I arrived in Sault Ste. Marie I received a couple of frantic messages from my insurance broker...there was no insurance on my vehicle. I scrambled to make a few phone calls and emails to my insurance provider and the DMV. After a few miscommunications we were able to resolve the issues...the DMV re-registered my vehicle as a motorhome and the insurance company issued appropriate coverage for me.
Wookie and I had to stick close to the truck at Adam's Motel while I waited for the Yukon to wake up....8:30 their time, 11:30 Ontario time. The manager/owner of Adam's Motel were accommodating and let me stay in the room until 11:30 and then they said, I could leave my truck in their parking lot until things were resolved. They were really understanding and I am grateful. I managed to get all the paperwork and information signed, and emailed back and received my registration and pink slip before I was able to leave Sault Ste. Marie.
It was a bit of a stressful trip, only because I wanted to get to North Bay before night fall. I don't enjoy driving in the dark on unfamiliar highways. By the time I arrived it was dark, and my GSP sent me on a bit of a wild goose chase...I think I was driving around in circles due to a road closure and a detour I couldn't find. Eventually I found my way to a Day's Inn. I managed to park and get a room - poor Wookie, even though I took her for a walk it definitely wasn't long enough. She's been a great companion, but I get the feeling that she's not entirely happy with the long days in the truck.

Got up and took Wookie for a quick walk and then back down the highway we went. My niece Cathy gave me directions to her house west of Ottawa. I found the place without any problems as it was right off the highway. I barely got parked and she was running up to greet me followed by her youngest child. I showed them the truck and introduced them to Wookie. Both of them fell in love immediately. I asked Cathy if she wanted to take Wookie and she thought about it for a second and said yes! I visited for awhile, watched how Wookie got along with Cathy's kid, seriously it was complete love. Wookie even listened to their commands. I petted her a couple of times, and she kept going and standing beside Cathy's little one. The decision was made right then. Wookie had found her furever family. I checked in with her several times over the day and Wookie had made herself right at home!
I got back in the truck and continued down the highway. It was bittersweet. I really enjoyed having Wookie as a travelling companion but it was obvious I was meant to leave her with Cathy and her family.
I got to a small town, went to grab a bit to eat and was posting a comment on a friend's timeline when I realized I had no idea which small town I was in. I guess that is on of the side effects of travelling like this.
I set the GPS to take me around Ottawa and into the province of Quebec as my destination was only a couple of hours away. I was headed to a small ville east of Montreal. Once I crossed the border into Quebec it was kind of like driving in Europe - there were similarities and differences. The two main differences were: the highway signs were in French. I did my best to translate them with my limited knowledge of French. The second difference was that Quebec uses a red chevron on a white background to mark turns, and the rest of Canada uses black chevrons over a yellow background.

The GPS, for once, directed me through the Greater Montreal area without any issues, even though rush hour traffic had begun. I arrived right when I said I would. I turned off the engine, looked at the empty co-pilot seat, and headed into the back of the truck to chill for a few minutes. My adopted niece came out and checked on things. It was good to be finished this part of the trip. My mind was already plotting out the tasks needed before the weekend trip could begin.

Had a quiet day, just doing some cleaning, laundry and resting. It actually felt good not to have be driving. Met Tealey's family and enjoyed a home cooked meal. Not much to write about really. Going to Gatineau for the weekend and will be off grid and off line as we celebrate the life of our friend. Will write again on Monday.

Busy day! My niece Becky and I went to a local Home Depot, and picked up 30 Dricore insulated flooring tiles. They are made from osb plywood and styrofoam and are 23 1/2 inches square. They are perfect for insulating and flooring the cube van.
Then as promised I made stew and bannock for Tealey and family. Overall it was a good day. I have a few more days to finish the insulation project. A lot of work on the cube van is going to happen slowly and as I have the funds to do each job. Getting the van insulated is the most important thing right now, even though I plan to be in the desert for most of the winter it needs to be done. I am hoping to finish the floor tomorrow and then begin the ceiling. After that it will be the wall studs, rafters and little things.
At Home Depot loading up the Dricore flooring, I think 30 of them should be enough.
First row is done. The Dricore flooring tiles are easy to install. Just have to move stuff around to get the whole floor done,
\Supper for Tealey!!! My infamous stew and bannock.
